saturday morning prayer

(:

hello.

i had an epiphany the other day

and..

i decided to share it

“And the Lord God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”                -Genesis 2:16-17

wh en I first read this i thought:

Why. in. the. WORLD. would. God. make. this. tree.

WHY?

did He want us to fall so far from Him?

w hy give us that temptation? why even create the tree to begin with?

but then i had a discussion during SMP.

(:

and that made me realize,

it wasn’t the tree itself that was evil,

it wasn’t the fruit of the tree that magically gave Adam and Eve the knowledge of all things good and evil,

what made that ‘tree’ special, was that God, himself, had commanded Adam not to eat of it.

you see?

the second Adam bit into the apple, he disobeyed God’s specific command

& that opened his eyes

to the thought, which was unconceivable before, that he could disobey

and why did God make that tree?

to ensure we all had that option of turning away from God

that ‘independence’

God loves us, so much. He wants us to love Him willingly, of our own choices

so He gave Adam that choice: to trust in Him, or be led astray

God will not force us to trust, love, and follow Him. He gave us the choice and we slipped up

Don’t blame Adam and Eve

because i’m sure, if we were in the exact same position

we would make that same choice

stupidly. being the human beings we are
